Why bleed matters

Koozies are sublimated edge to edge, then cut and sewn. If your background stops exactly at the edge of the face, a small shift in cutting leaves a thin white line. Run every background 3 mm past the edge and that line can never show.

Mind the seams

A collapsible koozie is two square faces sewn into a tube with a round bottom: your one face prints on the front and the back, their left and right edges are sewn together into the two side seams, and the bottom edge is sewn to the bottom, which prints in your background color. Anything within 5 mm of an edge sits on or near a seam, so keep words, faces and small logos away from them. Backgrounds and patterns can run right across.

Resolution and file types

Photos and raster art need 300 DPI at the printed size. A 1,252 × 1,252 pixel image covers the face with bleed at 300 DPI. Vector files (AI, PDF, SVG) are sharp at any size. On our order page, AI, PDF, PSD, PNG, JPG, SVG and TIFF files open right on the koozie, and the page shows the DPI of your art at the size you placed it before you approve.

Color

Sublimation prints full color, including photos and gradients, on white foam. It cannot print white ink: anything white in your design is the white of the koozie. To make a dark koozie, choose a dark background color and it fills the whole face.

Check it before you pay

On the custom koozie order page you upload your art, see the bleed, safe area and seam lines drawn on it, spin the finished koozie in 3D and approve it. Our prepress team checks every approved file before it prints and emails you within one business day if anything won’t print well.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a koozie print area?

A standard 12 oz can koozie has a square print face 3.94 inches (100 x 100 mm) on the front and the back. Make your file 106 x 106 mm to include 3 mm of bleed on every edge.

What resolution should koozie artwork be?

300 DPI at the printed size, which is at least 1,252 x 1,252 pixels for the face with bleed. Vector files such as AI, PDF and SVG are sharp at any size.

Where are the seams on a koozie?

On the left and right sides. Keep text and logos at least 5 mm in from every edge of the face so nothing important lands on a seam.

Can a koozie print white ink?

No. Sublimation dyes white fabric, so white areas in your design show the white koozie. For a dark koozie, choose a dark background color.
